I have just had a response to stripping off the Pebbledash from my Bungalow and I was asked if I knew whether the property was Built in Pebbledash or was it added on to Brickwork? Someone HELP !!! Is it me ? 70 year old female not as wise as she thought she was?

you can’t build a house from pebbledash.

It makes no difference if it is original or retrospectively added

Are there similar adjacent properties to your own? Do they all have pebble dash? It will be important to know what is under the coating, it might have been added during the original build and be an essential coating, or added at a later date purely for decorative effect. The first will likely look a mess if the coating is removed and need to be addressed.

they’re more interested in how difficult it’ll be to chop off and what they’ll have to do to get new render to stick.

Cowboys alert!
It would take seconds to find out what's under the pebble and it won't make any difference if you are re-rendering.

whether the property was Built in Pebbledash

Cowboys alert!

Yes, sounds like the sort of thing a cowboy builder would ask to see if you know anything about buildings. If you answer "no idea" then they know they can get away with anything and overcharge too, while just telling you how difficult your house is to repair because of its unique pebbledash construction!

Hey, you`re doing fine by asking, and don`t doubt yourself. Did they tether the horses outside when they came? :D

Hold on a second, has the builder been to site or are they just responding to an email?
