Hi we have just moved into a new house which has a shower arm coming out of the wall to a rainfall shower head. Having looked at it closely the arm is at a slight angle and is off the wall by about 5mm at the top but touching at the bottom, almost like the weight of the shower head is pulling it down. I've taken the shower head off and am going to swap it with a lighter version however i've got a question about the arm itself.

After i took the head off i started fiddling with the shower arm as it was quite loose and it seems to not be screwed in tightly to the fitting, however if i tighten it further the connection for the shower head would be at the wrong angle. Can i double check is the shower arm likely to just screw into a right angle pipe socket inside the wall? I did read some were secured with a back nut. By turning it have i now loosened the back nut if that's the case? How would you know without either smashing the tiles or smashing through the other side of the wall from behind the shower? I'm now concerned that water may be dripping inside the wall as the arm is quite loose.

I'm in a bit of a puzzle about what to do so any help would be appreciated.

The weight of the shower head would not pull it down as such so changing it for a lighter one is a waste of time and money..
The issue is either the connection or pipework leading up to/connecting to the shower arm.

Are there any grub screws on the shower arm ,on the top ?
I agree with John above ,I doubt the weight of the head alone would cause it to bend.
