I have found my shower is leaking under the waste pipe (ie there is a stain and a drip coming from the ceiling below). I have checked the grout around the shower tray that seems fine and used 'mr muscle' to try and clean out the pipes. The problem is still occuring. What do I do? Thanks

If the seal around the tray is still intact & water is not getting down around the tray it sounds like you could have a leak in trap or waste pipe somewhere or even the water pipes themselves if the leak is continuous when not using the shower. You need to stop using the shower immediately before you do too much damage to the ceiling & fix the leak; simply pouring Mr Muscle down the trap won’t do that, if anything it will make things worse. Once the leak is fixed, hopefully it will dry out OK & you can then worry about how to fix the stain but if you don’t fix the leak you will end up with a hole in the ceiling before too long.

You say 'grout around the shower tray', someone will correct me if I'm wrong but you shouldn't really have grout to seal the shower tray, you should have flexible silicone sealant - grout isn't 100% waterproof nor flexible and so may be the cause of your leak?

Either dig out the grout cleanly and reseal with a 100% silicone based sealant or apply a layer of sealant on top of the grout to test the theory.

You are absolutely right of course but the nature of the post leads me to think the OP may not know the difference between grout & silicone anyway; they also report that it “looks fine”. If water is dripping through the ceiling, I suspect rather more than water seeping around the edge of the shower tray but your guess is as good as mine.
