Hello

I'm fitting a shower pump in the hot water tank cupboard. Thing is I can't an obvious cold water pipe!

I am hoping to use the feed into hot water cylinder. This will be quite good 'if I can' as it's in the perfect plce to feed the pump.

I want to put a connection just below the gate valve.

What do you think?

It is better to run a separate ccold feed from the tank if you can.

thanks for the quick reply. I kinda guessed that the seperate feed would be the 'best' option.

But will connecting to the cystern supply be ok?

separate feed from cold water cistern, the cold feed should be lower than the one feeding the cylinder, then if the cistern runs empty you will starve the hot before the cold. :D

Teeing into the hot cylinder cold feed may starve the cylinder when the pump is running, resulting in air drawn into the system down the open vent.

That can cause airlocks in the hot water system, and damage the pump.

Thanks for all the advise. I ran a new supply from the cold water tank. A bit fiddley, but done now :)
