shower suppl and fuse

ok, looks like its a 40 Amp MCB, will get the work certified, this is a requirement by the housing association.
Good choice, but assuming it is a new circuit, then you need to speak the Competent Scheme Electrician before you actually start the work.
Even if it is just replacing an old shower then it is still worth speaking to him before you start.
I know you are in Wales and different rules apply - but most housing associations I deal with just want an Electrical installation certificate, showing that the replacement shower has been fitted and tested to BS7671.

That's probably sensible, but the electrician will need to confirm that the routing ('installation method') of the cable is OK for a 40A MCB. From what you've told us, that's probably the case, but it wouldn't take much 'de-rating' of 6mm² cable for its current-carrying capacity to fall below 40A, in which case a 40A MCB couldn't be used (unless you replaced the cable with 10mm²). As implied by PBoD, the electrician will also check that the 'loop impedance' of the circuit is low enough for a 40A MCB, but it is very unlikely that will be a problem.

Kind Regards, John
