I have a few questions, but they all kind of relate to one another.

Does anyone know when the requirement for BS 1363 to have shrouded pins was introduced? I seem to think it was about 15 years, but I could do with an actual date.

Is it a requirement for BS 546 plugs to have shrouded pins?

Is it a requirement for BS 546 sockets to be of the shuttered type?

This is for BS 546 plugs / sockets still in use today. (BS 546 is an old british standard for 5A and 15A round pin plugs and sockets)

Any documentary evidence to prove either way would be superb.

Thanks very much

1363/B is shrouded, and 1363/A is not I seem to recall.

No requirement for non 1363 type plugs to have shrouded pins as far as I am aware.

I have found reference to BS 546 sockets now requiring shutters, but it looks like the plugs are not required to be shrouded as Duraplug still make and sell unshrouded BS 546 plugtops.

Thanks for the information though chaps.

(And some fairly heavy reading from comms)
