side extention good idea or not

Wondering what the opinions are 9n building a side extention. For me it'll mean I would loose the access to the back garden.

What are your thoughts I wonder.

Sorry what I meant is, is loosing the side access to the back garden such a big deal when it comes to ever selling up.

Of course I would have access to the garden but only through the house where as at the moment I have a side access at the front that I can use.
