I have wireless broadband. The live box is in the next room. Th econnection often drops out and at best the signal strength is low, ften very low. Is signal strength down to the connection to th elive box or live box to the computer? Anyone any ideas please?

It means that there's something amiss with the signal from the Livebox to the computer.

I hate those Liveboxes.

I wouldnt reccomend Belkin, I used to, they were good value for money (as far as cheapo IT stuff goes) but the recent ones have been really problematic.

Thanks, softus. I'll get onto Orange for a new one
Er, that's not really what I meant.

I meant that you should ditch the Livebox and get something decent. As eggplant says, there are some strange goings-on with recent Belkins, but Netgear products have always been dependable for me.

Its an RF connection so it will be affected by any wires or metalwork in between.

Can you clear the space between the items of any loose wires etc.?

If it has a movable antenna then can you orientate this for maximum signal?

If all else fails then you could use a 1.2 m dish antenna although thats against the regulations.

stick a 1.2m dish in his living room and knock down the wall? seems a bit ott, much easier to buy a proper router.

Don't forget that at 12:54am, Agile is at the bottom of a nice bottle of Cabernet S. ;)

Wrong, its still half full!

Also its Dumisani which is Pinotage and Shiraz and 14.5 % too.

why cant he just run some network cable to the room he wants to have the pc in ? the liveboxs can be connected using the ethernet ports, canhe might need his orange livebox if hes using it for voip services from them too?
