...then why not loop at the light as normal, it makes it a bit more tricky, but most lights have enough room in the base to squeeze them in along with a slightly longer bit of choc block, might be fiddy but I think it can usually be done

Adam, you're a clever lad, we all like you a lot and one day you'll be a top spark, but, if you get into the domestic field you will come to loath lights (and showers) and daily curse their designers and the idiots that fitted them. If this wasn't a recurrent problem I wouldn't be entertaining the idea of bringing back a wiring method from a previous age. :D

Lol Ding, I have actually cursed designers of lights once already, some GU10 wall lights, circular base plate and terminal block positioned ver close to the side and the supply supposed to go into the side nearest the sidewall... was absolutly impossible to terminate 2 lighting cables in there (one on to another light), ended up having to change it so only had one cable to terminate (and that was tricky enough)

Just dont get me started on my gainsborough shower, just quite how its supposed to maintain its IP rating is beyond me.. unless there is more to it than just the outer cover and relies on the plastic 'gear tray' channeling water behind the unit.

Ah, good old Gainsborough; the electric shower with no provision for cable entry. I imagine the 'designer' just forgot, despite the big clue in the name of the appliance.

See, you're getting the hang of this already! :D
