...as it is similar in a way. I am in Bulgaria. Circuitry is radial. I want an “extension”.
I have a log splitter which has a 2200W motor. It is designed for European market as original cable has European plug. It comes with a 10m cable with European socket and UK plug. Changing the plug is no problem.
I have used it no problem close to house. I would now like to use it near garage, which is 18m longer distance than the provided cable. Max. permissible cable length is the 10m cable provided (2.5mm x section, I assume as that is the rated cable for it). “A longer cable impairs the motor performance and consequently the function of the log splitter.”
If I had a 20m run of cable circuitry in my house and plugged their extension cord in at the far end, I assume that would be acceptable. I know it sounds naive but I don't see the difference between that and running a 18m cable from a socket at the house, which is 2m from the supply, and then plugging the extension cord into a socket attached to the end.
In that case I assume that the thickness of the cable I use is then what determines the appropriateness of doing that. So, what thickness would be required, in that case?
