Skirting and trim, how should they meet?

I thought I was being pretty clever here... I routed a sheet of mdf and fixed to a stud wall to act as a built in head board.... Plasterboarded rest of wall, skimmed, then..... Stood there looking at it scratching my head.. Not so clever..... Needs architrave/trim to cover the mdf/plasterboard join, but how to do the join between that and the skirting??

Ignoring the obvious what on earth question, surely your skirting will just run along the floor across the bottom of the headboard, with the architrave joining into it?

Well yes, but how will the architrave join the skirting?

It would just abut it, you would need to choose an architrave the same or narrower than your skirting.
