I'm soon going to fitting new skirting board, which I've never done before. I've searched the internet for handy hints but there's one question I can't find an answer for: Is it best to fit it before or after the carpet goes down? If before, should I be leaving a gap between the skirting and the floorboards?

Thanks - and if anyone's got any other useful tips, they'd be gratefully received!

Dackers.

Dackers - always fit skirtings before the carpets. Ensure that they touch the flooring - no gaps. Your carpet fitter will fix gripper strips to the floor the correct distance from the skirtings.

Use the Search button above to look for previous posts & advice about skirtings ... there is loads of info.
