I am currently trying to replace some damaged victorian skirting board. I have tried most normal diy places but need to find a specialist place. does anyone know any such suppliers? I tried a local joinery firm to get some made up but they were hideously expensive!

I would try phoning around a few other joiners workshops - my brother is in the trade has done this kind of thing quite often. Depending on how much you need you could get a cutter set ground to the correct mould or the shape can often be achieved using several cutters and more passes through the machine. Some firms perhaps don't really want this kind of work so set a high price to put you off.

A good tip is to keep an eye out for Builders skips in the area that might have some of the same skirting in them. A lot of people go for a complete change if they cannot match a certain style to an entire room so you may just benefit.Happy hunting.
