While fitting the radiator on the right I've drilled through one half of the shotgun cable. I've ordered a repair kit (4 f plugs, 2 barrels and a few m of cable) which will allow me to replace from where I've accessed the cable back to the TV (which lives on the other side of the wall).

I'm just wondering if there's a way to identify which cable is still working (so I'm not cutting the good one unnecessarily)?

It's chased in the walls through the house so I only have access at the TV and the dish.

Not really.

You could try using a non-contact voltage detector pen, not sure how well it would work detecting low voltage DC though… disconnect both cables at the LNB, at the TV end put a 9v battery across the core and shield and then use the voltage detector pen to see if you get a positive reading on one of the cables,, swapping to the other as required.

I've sorted it. I had a cunning plan that the bit that goes into the box that I could see had some spec or something faintly printed on it, and it appeared to only be on one of the strands so I just needed to find the same on the bit chased down the door frame. I gave it a bit too much of an enthusiastic tug to get it out of the render and broke one of the strands - fortunately it was the broken one!
