Can you build a sloping roof lean to with plasterboard false ceiling ?

Will have velux window boxed in and them allow me to put downlights in to match the rest of the kitchen.

I think you mean you have a pitched lean-to roof with Veluxes and you'd like to board over the Veluxes internally and just fit down lights instead. If so I can't see a problem with that. Plasterboard is cheap so if there was ever a reason to have to get at the Velux from inside it wouldn't be a major disaster. Having said that it's not a huge job to remove the Velux and tile over either - depending on the type of tiles.

Can't see any images?

Already have fitted kitchen with down lights but extending it out by 3m and really want it to look the same in the extension.

Will this pass Building control or is this just not going to work. Cold Bridging or something ?

if need be will drop the velux window but the main issue I think will be having a gap between the level plasterboard ceiling and then main insulation in the rafters off the new roof.

Ahh, if it's a building regs job you'll probably have to do something more permanent. Voids can be problematical in that situation due to potential condensation issues. It's hard to picture to be honest. I though you were talking about an existing roof.

Just build it as a conventional joisted roof but with a light well admitting the Velux light.

It is fiddly because the vertical upstands of light-well need to receive celotex whilst the rest just gets the standard 300mm quilt. The roof space may also need venting.

Who designed this and why was a vaulted roof specified? I ask this because a vaulted fella is a lot more costly and fiddly than a standard joisted one.
