Hi all. Does anyone know where it says you can't install a soakaway into tarmac drive? I've been told it's illegal by another engineer and madness.

Kitchen where boiler is is tiled and conservatory at back so would look a pig's ear maccano set if all over side of house; suppose I could do a pump but can't see why can't go into tarmac

Kitchen where boiler is

just checking.

this boiler is in the kitchen

I bet the kitchen also contains a sink (maybe a dishwasher and washing machine)

Which are attached to drains.

Why is your boiler not plumbed in to a drain?

Sink on other side of wall. Existing Non condensing' tiled floor

Yes but there's a conservatory on that side wall over kitchen

You could put a soakaway in your drive, but be aware that it needs to be accessible for maintenance - the limestone chippings need to be topped up annually as part of the boiler service. If it's in your drive then you'll need a manhole cover over it strong enough to take vehicular traffic running over the soakaway.

In other words, yes you can do it, but it'll get expensive
