Good morning!

Would anyone be able to advise on construction of domestic rainwater soakaway.
I am aware it needs to be a min 5m from the main dwelling, approximately 2mcubic below outlet. I calculated 1mcubic per every 16sqm of roof, as per BC regs.

Not sure of the layers needed.

we dig a big hole and fill it with brick ends.

a typical size would be 1.5m x 1.5m x 1.5m.

What do you do with all the middle bits?

I normally specify 1m cubed not 1.5, and as long as the ground is permeable enough, the BCOs are happy.

no, you are quite right, fill the soakaway up to and around the drain pipe making sure that the outlet is protected from blockages. then lay down a membrane and back fill.

"tricky trevor" at staffs bc is the man to be obeyed. if he passes them then you know it is ok. with or without porosity test.
