Need to do a soakaway at some point, I had initially assumed I would do it out the front, as I have a corner plot with a decent size front garden, but then realised I won't get anywhere near 2.5m from the boundary (assuming boundary includes the street) and 5m from the house.
So I've started trying to work out where to put it, and I'm more limited than I thought - in a typical back garden, do people tend do stick them right down beyond the lawn or something? I can't see it being that easy to get 5m from the house, 2.5m from the neighbours fences, without it ending up right in the middle of the lawn or in an otherwise prominent position - anyone else done one? (or 100?)
+ the trench for the 5m+ run of pipe's gonna be a bit disruptive too! - Ta for any tips

Is that rule generally ignored then?
That’d make things easier. Guess it’s the kinda thing you can get away with pretty easily as no one’s going to know

If you hadn't posted on here nobody would have known ! Soakaways are subject to suitable ground conditions of course and percolation tests.

No, not in my experience ,people usually locate soakaways at least 5m away from buildings in order to satisfy the Building Control Officer by complying with building regulations.

It’s the 2.5m from boundary rule which may be more of a challenge. I’ll discuss with building control anyway thanks

There isn't a 2.5m from boundary rule. Bldg regs say rainwater soakaways should be 5m from foundations of a building or a road. NHBC Standards give further guidance/recommendations/ whatever.
