Socks with Holes in toes

I get through socks like nobody's business. One solution I use is to cut the toe end off other old socks and Copydex them over thus thickening and hiding the holes. Anyone got other ideas to strengthen and delay holes appearing? Thanks.

yeah ive found that, I find cutting and smoothing off toenails helps but since being on blood pressure tablets my nails have become quite brittle, which makes them sharp

I wear strauss that are well fitting on the other hand I wear Primark..
Primark do good cheap socks
