Soil pipe connection

Hi there all.
I need to dig out my soil pipe so I can connect plastic onto it.
I have hired the pipe cutting tool for a good cut so I can get the plastic to clay adapter on.

How do I dig down and get soil out because my arms don't reach down far enough, is there a good way to go this so I can uncover the pipe?
