a friend may want a garden security light in a rented house.
Rather than plug in a light are the self charging solar lights actually any good?

I mean security not those feature lights

I have used a few, the last one seems to work well, but also had rubbish ones, problem is you only find out after fitting. They all worked for 6 months OK. But really security lights need to be outside the visible spectrum of the human eye and have cameras to see what is going on, my lights are not designed to stop intruders, in fact the reverse, it is designed so the milk man can see his way to door, fitting lights assists anyone be them a wanted or unwanted visitor, and I rarely notice a light switching on, so the option is PIR or timed, I use PIR for solar lamp, timed for mains lamp.
