Does anyone know of any companies that are providing insulation under the grant system for solid walls ?? I seem to have hit a solid 9" brick wall trying to find anyone that does.
I meet all the criteria for the full grant but can't find anyone to install the required insulation
The goverment and industry in general are pushing the whole insulation issue and giving everyone (who qualifies) grants of £2700 to install insulation and heating measures in houses that do not come up to scratch.
It seems mad that it is impossible to find a company to install insulation under the grant scheme in a house with solid walls (such as mine) when they loose more heat and energy than a non insulated cavity wall. You would think that they would make these properties a priority.
After looking through the various sources on the net and ringing round it turned out that Warm Front are the main goverment reccomended agency for dealing with grants and insulation.
I called them up and their surveyer came round to have a look, done his calculations and said my house has a SAP rating of 1, the scale is 1 to 120, 1 being worst possible case. Anyhow they said that they don't instal non cavity wall insulation and they dont do flat roof insulation.
This seem very poor when I have read that a huge percentage of UK housing stock has solid walls and they are being brushed under the carpet as they are classed as "hard to heat"
