Solution for window frame

This window has a wooden panel below it which is not flush with the window, the wood protrudes approx 5mm.

There is a PVC moulding that was used to cover it but because the wood is not flush, it leaves a large gap as shown in the image. I could fill the gap with a load of silicone but that probably won't look great. Looking for any suggestions for how to make a good looking finish on this.

Window looks a little short at the bottom.
Maybe build the bottom sill up to cover
