in the factory i used to work in, making toiletries and medicines, we used to have third party contracts for supermarkets and other shop chains. The own brand stuff was pretty much identical to the premium branded stuff. The main differences being the quality of ingredients put into the recipes. For example, a well known shampoo and one of the branded ones was made in an adjacent manufacturing vessel to a popular supermarket version. The ingredients where identical, the only difference being the way they were blended and the final bottle shape and label.
