I can hear him moving around.......

My guess is he fell down the flu. ........?

When they say a pigeon flue down the chimney, surely he fell or he would fly out agin and not die?

Might not be enough room to spread the wings to fly, or it is female pidgeon and she doesn't know her way out.

2nd opinions on this?

I emailed my engineer to explain and then asked:

"I doubt the bird found its way out so assume it's died. Would running the boiler just burn up the body safely or might it damage the boiler?"

He replied:

"should cause no problems as long as it does'nt block the flue ... It will just be cremated and turn to dust"

Before I switch on the boiler, do you guys agree/disagree?

When Servicing oil fired boilers it is not un-common to find the remains of birds, they are usually still in tact, just carbonised!! so they don't burn to dust, however if you are talking about a Gas boiler, with much smaller flue passages and tolerances it would be a good idea to get the bird out Dead or Alive!!

P.S. anyone see the Piccky in Gas installer this month Dead snake in a Baxi Solo!! :P

It's oil.

It's a Turco 2000, also known as a Eurocal - manufactured by Turkington.

Stirling 40 burner.

As it is an oil boiler I would not worry about getting the bird out it will be done to a turn at the next planned maintenance service ! and no harm done! - well to the boiler!

Many thanks!

Ran the boiler today without problems. I think a bit of chicken wire over the flu outlet is the next plan!

Oh, and guessing when is the best time to fill the oil tank of course!
