Southport murderer pleads guilty

Why was he referred to Prevent then?

Because of his very strange behaviour. But they found no terrorist connection or any evidence of radicalisation at all. And none has been found in the six months since he carried out these horrendous murders.

Starmer says this is a line in the sand, there will be changes.

Tough talk.

When it comes to crime, things are going from bad to worse. We've now reached a stage where folk can blatantly walk into a shop, scoop items into bags and walk out without fear of any comeback.

My reason for mentioning a type of crime at the other end of the scale is this. If the authorities can't routinely stop these crimes, how the feck are they going to stop things at the more heinous end?

I'll say again, he'd better get a WLT however I won't hold my breath.

That people suspected of being radicalised are referred to Prevent.

And it was found on all three occasions that he wasn't at risk of being radicalised. Instead it was left to mental health services.

And how did that go?

As it is supposed to. He was assessed and found not to be at risk of radicalisation. Instead it was left to mental health services. From what we now know, he should probably have been sectioned.

What do you think drove him to do what he did if it wasn't radicalisation?
