My speaker cables were originally the feeds to underfloor heating. 2 amp sockets fit nicely over the conduit boxes used for the thermostats.
Warning to all - that sort of repurposing only works in one direction.

Well I got 2 metal back boxes this morning.
Knocked a hole in the wall and unsurprisingly I need a 16mm deep one.
Do they actually exist ? Where can I get them from ?
Aren't these used for wall lights ?

Are you talking about architrave boxes? If so, I've only ever see one depth, and all the ones I can find here have a depth of about 28mm.
