I used to train with a pro boxer, former military boxing champ 5 years on the trot who left the army not long after the Iraq war started and remember him saying there were many racists in the military.

You only have to look at the facebook profiles of some on the racist edl facebook pages to see a lot of them are active or former soldiers.

You seem surprised.Many racists in society.Why would the forces be different.
 
Maybe true, maybe not, but what i want to know is why, after 18 years of war, are the Taliban still controlling large parts of Afghanistan and seem unbeatable? To the point the Americans are now negotiating with them?

Politicians dont learn from history.
Plenty of countries have had a go at Afghanistan, none have succeeded.
The only solution is to leave em be.
