We have just moved into a new flat and the old bathroom is destined to be ripped out and replaced within the next 3 months, however when my girlfriend went to take a shower this morning, the hot water tap just spun without turning on the water.

I have managed to remove the tap handle and inside is a brass spindle with notches that I assume the tap handle grips onto to spin. However the inside of the tap handle "barrell" is pretty bare so I'm guessing there is nothing to grip onto.

Can anyone suggest a quick fix, as like I mentioned, we are having the bathroom redone in the next three months.

a kerby/hair grip should do the job with one leg
remove tap handle insert grip and handle together on the spline

I'm still waiting for the OP to post the girlfriend in shower picture.....

As you are going to have this bathroom for only the next few months, glue back on with Araldite. Leave over night to set.
