Splashback on top or behind upstand?

Is it better to have a splashback sitting on top of the upstand, or splashback all the way down to the worktop and attach the upstand to the splashback?

It’s easier to scribe and fit the worktop first and add the up stand after, and it can be removed easily.Either case there will be a thin bead of sealant

Neither.

The splashback is installed onto the worktop glued to the wall. The upstand runs into the sides of the splashback.
