Hi all

I need to re-tile splashbacks above worktop in kitchen. However, had to remove blown plaster back to blockwork for about 2m and re-plaster. In fact blown plaster was all the way to ceiling. Guess thinking back now, I should have used the rapid set render available at splashback level but didn't. So its done now in bonding and finish...looks lovely!

Now if it was a bathroom or full wall, I'd be inclined to leave it a few weeks to dry out fully but would obviously like to get job finished ASAP.

Tiles will only be lightweight ceramic and cover about 450mm high from worktop so we are not talking too much weight.

What would you guys suggest?

The issue would not be the weight if I understand your post
Plaster Walls=20kg per m2.

But you do want the walls to cure and dry out prior to tiling, if you tile while moisture is still present in the plaster, it is recipe for problems.
Moisture will be trapped, likely to prevent the curing process, prevent tile adhesion and possible staining to tile grout.
