Do you do things on spontaneity? You know, just sitting there or pottering about and then suddenly get up and go somewhere? Maybe to the shops, the pub or something totally out of the ordinary like go across country and see a mate you were planning to see next week but suddenly decided, "Blow it, I'll go now and surprise them."
Would you like someone to turn up on your doorstep earlier tha n planned or would it annoy you because you weren't expecting them for a day or two?
With it being Christmas soon it got me wondering about this.
Comments please.

I don't have problems with mates turning up unannounced.

I had a minor ischaemic stroke last week. How's that for spontaneously getting 4 weeks off work? (and 4 weeks off driving   )

:( thats not good m8ty,whats the reason or prognosis?
Reason?? Even the doc's don't know (could be lifestyle/stress/ price of bananas)
Prognosis? Very good actually, just have a slight weakness on my r/hand side. Got an MRI booked for next week (bit more detail than the CT scan done last week)
The biggest downside is that anyone having, even a mild stroke, is automatically stopped from driving for 4 weeks (and then only if my doctor agrees I can drive again after that 4 weeks) Oh that, and the informing of the car insurance company. They tell me "This might affect your premiums" (in other words "We'll screw you over for as much as we can get." ) Grrrrr

What's the chance of having another? And how did you know you had that one?

Sorry to hear that John and hope you return to normal without any lasting effects.
Another knock-on from something like this is if you need/try to get life insurance at some time in the future. A lot won't touch you and those that do will charge a high premium or place restrictions on the cover.
Good luck for the future.

What's the chance of having another? And how did you know you had that one?
Chances of having another are higher now I've had one (although I'm now on 300mg aspirin daily until 20th then go on clopidogrel to thin the blood) Also on Simvastatin as my cholesterol is a little bit higher than it should be. My blood pressure is slightly elevated too.

First I knew was when my right leg collapsed underneath me at work. Managed to steady myself against a wall, then everything became fuzzy/confused. Someone was asking me a question, and I couldn't even think of the proper words to say what I meant, and think I came out with a load of b*****ks. I can remember getting to work in the morning, but can't for the life of me remember what I did, up till I collapsed (about 3 hrs after starting work)
CT scan shows some subtle attenuation (whatever that is) to the anterior left lobe, but the doctors can't say what it is yet.
I mentioned to my own doctor yesterday that I'm taking Champix for smoking cessation and it does say in the leaflet that there is a rare risk of stroke caused by Champix ( less than 1 in a 1000) So wonder if that could be a possible cause??

I feel fine now Cal. Just slightly weak on my right side. Noticeable when I walk and more so on steps/stairs. I have some exercises for my r/hand the physio gave me to do, but reckon I could possibly cope with some light duties at work, instead of sitting around at home .
