Hey electrical folks,

I want to add a new power socket to a partition plasterboard wall with the minimum of mess!

There is a heated towel rail on the other side of the partition wall which has a power supply (see photo). Am I permitted to spur from this power supply?

I don't have easy access under the floor to spur from existing sockets.

Thanks!

There’s a fused switch which is at socket level outside the bathroom … and on the other side of the door from where I’d like to put the socket

Ok. I will assume the cables used are 2.5mm².

Therefore you can take a cable from the LOAD side of the FCU and run to your new socket but -
it will be limited by the fuse in the FCU minus the power used by the radiator.

OR

If you can determine that the socket where the supply to the FCU comes from is on the ring final circuit (or the FCU itself is on the ring) then you can connect a cable for your new socket to the supply side.
