Want to run a spurred outlet to a cupboard i have built in a walk in cupboard under the stairs - New build 10yrs old

All the cables currently run up parallel up the walls

The walls have metal strut attached to the plasterboard so without cutting a channel its impossible to feed a cable horizontally along the wall
Plasterboard Metal Strut Plasterboard seems to be the install

What i was looking at doing is running the mains cable parallel down the wall and then drilling into the cavity under the stairs and running it to the socket

a) if i stick the cable into PVC conduit would that be deemed ok?
b) where would the pvc conduit start do i make a hole big enough for the conduit to come through plasterboard?
c) the spurred outlet will be at 30cm height so that it fits under the shelf which i dont think makes any difference

Already drilled a hole out where i want the spur as attached so i can see what i have

I don’t entirely follow what you’re trying to do, but…

Putting cable in PVC conduit does not exempt it from the “safe zone” rules. It would need to be a steel conduit, and it would need to be earthed.

Sorry will start again

Is it ok to run a cable diagonally in the space under the stairs, and is there anything i need to do to comply with regs?

The photo is taken through the hole i created for the spur outlet socket

The current socket is on the right hand wall the other side of 2 layers of plasterboard

If you can make sure the cable is 50mm or greater below the finished surface, then great.
If not, you need earthed metal conduit.
Or used SWA cable.

Hang on, I think I'm giving you duff info here.
I still don't get this.
The void can't be accessed by anyone?
So regular cable may be fine, slung in the void.
Where's the other end of the cable go to?

Nope cant be accessed by anybody

The photo is taken in the hole i made in the plasterboard for the Socket

The other end of the cable will run to the wall on the right hand side at the diagonal where there is an existing socket on the other side of the plasterboard i will spur from

The cable will be on the floor of the Void as i intend to obey the safe zone and run from the Current outlet down to floor before feeding across

Zones apply where cables are concealed in walls.
They do not apply in this empty space under the stairs, as that is not a wall.
There are no zones in floors.

Just how big is that wasted space?
Could you create a door into it for storage space?
I once added an additional toilet in the unused space under the stairs.

Camera angle makes it look bigger the plasterboard already goes under half the staircase what you can see is just the first 5 or so steps.. so only 1m high max

my son in law has made a pullout draw thing a few years ago - which has shoes etc on - really utilised the space well
I also saw a video from the London craftsman who made one pull out

Why is it that the vast majority of such projects build a carcass which for many of the situations does nothing apart from add to the expense and waste space?
