Spying on a visitor

I've got to a time of life when I need someone - a person wot does, who will have freedom to explore Passing Towers.

I'm looking for a self-contained portable thing, a couple of which I can strategically leave around the house to record activities. I could leave a laptop open, or use a phone, but they're a bit conspicuous. It could I imagine use an internal storage card or send images back to my wifi?
Something from a standard (Yale??) security range may well do?
