I made a desk from a 44mm Plywood FD30 Fire Door offcut. The door has what looks like white oak wood veneer on both sides and I would like to source wood veneer edging to finish off the desk.

Is this wood veneer edging a good choice? If not, which one would you recommend?
is is straightforward to stain the desk including the wood veneer edging? Is water-base or oil-base stain the best choice for this application?
If I didn't like the result, could I light-sand, prime and paint over it?

TIA

That edging is ok.
Personally I prefer the non pre glued so I can use my own glue.
For a busy desk I would use oil based stain, however, if it's going to be used by a neat adult, ronseal diamond hard stain/varnish would be more than good and you can do 3 coats in a day.
