I need to fit a new handrail and base rail to take spindles (at present it's the 60's style 6x1 planks instead of spindles).

However, where the string meets the ceiling i cant run a baserail or even handrail all the way to the top. I think i am going to have to mitre it into the ceiling and put baserail upsidedown to take the remaining spindles(???) where the ceiling and string forms a triangle. On the opposite side I am going to run a full length handrail with brackets on the wall. Its just the funny little triangle that is causing mr problems. Also the spindles will lose the square part when i cut them into the triangle. Is the the best way to do it?

HELP!!!!
Many thanks
