I have foolishly removed the single light socket at the top of my stairs, and now cannot get it to work. There are two reds, a blue, a black and and a yellow all with red sleeves and the green/yellow. the switch has comm and 1 way 2 way options can someone help me please

I suppose you mean a switch.

The black and its accompanying red will be Red into L1 and Black into L2.

The remaining Red and Blue and Yellow must be wired into the same terminals as they are at the other switch which operates the light.
So L1 and L2 will both have two wires in them.

Sorry yes I Did mean switch

the downstairs light is a double dimmer, which looks like yellow is in the comm does that make sense?

The black and its accompanying red will be Red into L1 and Black into L2. (from the same cable)?

Ok

so, upstairs switch
The yellow will go into C
The two reds go into L1
The blue and the black into L2.

That should work.
