Stairwell width and boxed in waste pipe

Rozzachamps

Hi there,

I'm installing a bathroom upstairs in what is currently a walkin wardrobe.

The only way i can get the bathroom waste to the back of the house (where the main soil stack is) is to run the soil pipe from the bathroom, along the landing and along the side of the stairwell (boxed in).

However, this does make the stairwell narrower between the banister and soil pipe (575mm between the pipe and the banister at the closest point).

Is this a problem from a building control perspective? From my point of view, it's a minor practical inconvenience, however there really is no other way to get the waste to the main soil stack.

I've attached an image.

Please provide a practical response or not at all. Thanks.

What, no "I'll be back" like a macerator?

Hang on, that gives me an idea.

Takes people a while to get used to the sense of humour around here!

There must must must must be a better way than that.

The soil pipe is at the back but the drain below ground could run down the side to the front. Or it could run along an external wall?
