Hello I've got an Iveco 2.3 diesel van which from completely out of the blue has decided it won't turn over :( I have a brand new battery and am getting a reading of 12.4 volt from a multimeter.

All the dash lights come on when the ignition key is turned but when trying to start I'm getting nothing. I can't hear any clicking or whirring noises from the starter motor and had no issues from it before, so I'm thinking relays, solenoids, fuses maybe ? (n)

Any pointers, tips etc that I can try as would like to try and resolve or identify the issue before having to get the van taken to a garage.
Thanks in advance Graham. :)

First thing I'd check is if you are getting a 12v feed to the starter solenoid when the key is turned.

See what voltage you get when you turn the ignition on, and then when you attempt to start up, Graham. 12.4v is on the low side and I wonder if the voltage will sharply drop when you try my experiment.
John :)

Does the voltage drop when you turn the ignition on to start?

My initial thought is it sounds like the starter motor solenoid has failed.

Install a new starter.
