No it isn't.

It's in the region of 25 Billion. Which to be fair is pretty big, Viagra is around 3 Billion, Paracetamol only 1.5 Billion. And even bigger than Ozempic at around 18 Billion. Add in Mounjaro and you're probably well over the Statin bill. All numbers USD and very rough values as they came from different sources.

Cholesterol-lowering statins are one of the world’s most commonly used medicines.

They were first approved for people with a high risk of cardiovascular disease in 1987. By 2020, global sales were estimated to have approached US$1 trillion (AU$1.35 trillion).

Then it's a useless and misleading number. The price for some of the most popular branded Statins dropped by 97% when their patents expired and generics hit the market. A months supply dropped from £30 to £1.

Using price data from the patent period is useless to the current state of the world.

The annual market for Statins is now around £25 Billion. It's comparable to GLP Diabetes/Weighloss drugs and Rheumatoid Arthritis Biologics. It's big but nothing compared to cancer treatment

Did the use of statins suddenly shoot up after the covid jab was released - asking for a friend

I wonder if Statins cost the NHS much.

I have low chloresterol, but my GP likes to push it even lower.

Let's see the cost of a 28 day supply.

Oh.

Not very much at all.

I have a feeling there are a great many people in the world. So the bill for toothbrushes is probably quite big, worldwide.

Doesn't mean toothbrushes are expensive.

Or that they are only sold due to an international conspiracy of dentists.
