Sticking Skirting to Wall - Gripfil Alternative?

I just stuck down a load of skirting last night using standard Gripfil, this stuff takes 20 mins or so to go off and left me holding each piece hard to the wall!

Is there a better alternative than gripfil (other than nails) for sticking skirting to wall?

Screw it on then fill over the heads.

or a reversable clamp and a piece of wood to push the skirting in for you until it sets
