Storage options....

i want to "back up" my photos and my music... my laptop is about full.

I do have two ext HDD's and i back up pccasionallyt, and store one "off-site" (i.e. i take one to work).

But, there seems to be a number of newer options.... firstly cloud storage.. i.e. on the 'net although you only get a couple of gig... and i needa couple of hndred at least...

then there's NAS storage... so a bit HD which links to your wireless router... so accessible from multiple devices, including phones and stuff.... is this good?

or are there other alternatives?

There is unlimited photo storage with a Google+ account. Photos should be no bigger than 2048×2048 or they will be resized

Google music will let you store up to 20gb - but you will need to "pretend" to be in the US to sign up - lots of info on err Google how to do this

Also Google drive will give you 5gb free

You could look at synology NAS'

They make several types, but are really great for storage. You can even set up your own private cloud and access it from anywhere.
