I need to renew the fascia capping on my house but the old fascia is quite wavy along the side of the house, and I'd like to improve it whilst I have the chance.
I cannot get inside it to pack out on the rafter ends without starting to strip the roof which I don't want to do. Under the capping is the original wood fascia and soffit, all in good condition, but is the cause of the wavyness. There are felt trays above too, so access would be complex.
Hoping for some suggestions on ways to straighten it out? I was thinking of using a string line, and glazing packers every 500mm along the fascia where required to level it out. Then mark up the fascia board so that each nail goes through the packer, and fix the gutters in the same positions.
See attached photo, although it looks worse in real life.

Thanks
