Strimmer head keeps flying off!!

Hi,

I was given a strimmer last week. It doesnt look well-used or knackered. Th eowner said it had been sat at the back of his garage for a few years.

Anyway... every tim eI use it, within 30 seconds the head flies off! I push it back into place, and the same thing happens. Theres no way - as far as I can see - to clip it in.



The spindle doesnt seem to be worn. Other than supergluing it, not sure how to attach it!?

The plastic head was probably cast onto the shaft. Superglue or maybe better - Locktite it in place.

Does the stem not take threaded screw on the end with the washer to keep it fixed?

I might be wrong, but I see what I think is a cantering dimple in the end of the shaft, in the photo, rather than a taped hole for a fixing bolt.

Thanks guys. I will investigate further when I get back from holdiay.

Yesterday I superglued it, and it remained attached. So perhaps thats a temporary fix for now.
