Any tricks to putting in the strimming cord, what's the hole in the middle for?

Can you get metal strimming cord as plastic stuff keeps breaking off on hard standing areas.

Safety wise- goggles? I heard dog poo blinds u

Dog poo.

Why not wear glasses?

I assume you are not planning to eat the dog turds.

Cases are pretty rare, about 12 a year.

There's cheap sh*t line and there's decent line.
Ones I've used and seem to be good:
- Bradas Twist
- Oregon Duoline

I wouldn't want to be nearby if some fragments of metal line broke off when you were using it.

Plus 1 for the Oregon line.....but make sure it’s the same diameter as original.
The splined hole is for the bump feed mechanism.

Do you push it all the way through that hole? My bump feed isn't great either

I use the brush cutter,

but if you hit anything with it, you know about it, it came as an option with the Lidi multi-tool, also hedge cutter and mini chain saw on a long arm. Battery powered 40 volt, uses two batteries.

I use a metal blade as I have to deal with heavy vegetation. Standard Stihl head protection used and gloves.

I often use safety specs with a chainsaw helmet, the amount of times I've turned my head in the wrong direction and had something come up behind the visor. Plus little bits of dust that get kicked up seem to migrate into the eye.

On some strimmers, you feed the wire in one hole and out the other, then wind it up to take the line in.
No unscrewing of the spool needed.

Don't overload the spool with line, use the correct diameter (weight) of line - and a spray of silicone can help a bit.
I've never heard of soaking the line, which isn't to say it won't work!
John :)
