Hi all.

I want to put 4 pendant lights up in my loft all operated from one switch which will be next to the loft hatch. I am not sure how to wire these up. I have read through these forums and on the net and what I can gleam is to do it this way:

Take live, neutral and earth from existing ceiling rose to new switch. Then same from switch to first light. Then from 2nd light through to 3rd and 4th light. It's the actual conections on each light I need to know. Do I need to just have the first light switched and then live to live and neutral to neutral on the others? I hope that makes sense. Thanks.

All the wiring diagrams you need are on this forum, on a sticky at the top of the list.

However, you are right. You need a permanent live feed (L N & E) from an existing fitting.

This can be taken to a switch along with the outgoing cable where you connect the neutrals and earths through, and the live to the common and switched live to L1.

Then the outgoing cable feeds the light fitting(s). Easy!
