Got a whole victorian terrace to strip

And it's woodchipped throughout and has probably had a few coats of paint too!!

I would have gone with a steamer but I have read about the 'Wallwik' product, anyone got any advice on it?

I can swallow the £50-60 the Wallwik stuff will cost me if I get the place done quicker and easier...but if it ain't any easier I won't bother

Any advice very, very welcome

Haven't tried wallwick product so cant comment, but believe it's usefull on stubborn papers and by its nature will take some time to soak thro like it claims.
Myself I just get me 7lb wallop out an a big bucket hot sugar soapy water, soak several times, av a cuppa between each soaking and usualy get the room stripped before steamer gets steam up. Though have to say it's not always like that
Be interesting to know what you think of it . If..............

good luck.

I wouldnt do that if I were you...it tastes rank!

I normally use really hot water with some detergent in it and a hedgehog perforator (available from hire shops)

Or hire yourself a steamer

Cheers for the advice folks.

I'll skip on the Wallwik and try some good old fashioned hot soapy water.

And be back to blame you both if I'm still stripping woodchip three weeks in ;)

Ah stripping!!!, thats my favourite bit of decorating,as long as I have my radio, and access to a cuppa, I am happy like a pig in muck.

Like confident says, soaking is the key, hot soapy water and plenty of it,soak one wall, then go back and do it again, and again, and the paper comes off really easy.

If the woodchip has silk paint on it, then it will take a bit longer, you could use a steamer, but be very carefull, as if you leave it on the one area too long, it can blow the plaster underneath, you will hear a pop, then you know its blown lol.

When a house has woodchip or anaglypta, the chances are the paper is covering up something dodgy.

To make life easier after you have stripped a wall, get a hard brush and sweep over the wall, this will take off the little bits that might be left behind. :D
