I need to make a stud wall. And have one question:

When you have a sutd wall at right angles to a brick wall, does the first stud go tight against the brick wall or do you leave a gap for expansion?

Thanks,

worth mentioning
remember the timber will be metric just under the foot size
but with the floor and ceiling plates measured first the offcuts will fit in assuming floor to ceiling is 7/8/9 or 10 ft
as in a 4.8 will do 2x8ft when added to the plates top and bottom so keep this in mind when planning timber
