I am just after a guide for building some stud work for a ceiling for our office. Our current ceiling is the bottom of a mezzanine and we lose a lot of heat from it in the winter.

My idea is to build some stud work, put some insulation in and then plasterboard it.

I will have to build the stud work off four walls (two off brick walls and two off stud walls). The office size is 3.5m by 3.8m.

Could someone guide me on how to do this:

Which timber size to get?
Plasterboard thickness?
Gaps between each bit of timber on the stud work?
To use noggins or not?
Type of brackets to use to build the stud work off?

Many Thanks

Why do you need to add studwork?

Is there not a ceiling structure already in place?

I'm a bit confused?

The current ceiling structure is large steal beams to hold the wooden floor above. Apart from that the ceiling is bare.

I can't drill into the steel beams above as they are quite thick.

There are all sorts of clips and brackets to go on steelwork. See your local builders merchant (or electrical wholesaler) for Britclips

That will allow you to hang the battening from the steelwork so you don't need to make it structural.
